People’s Leasing & Finance PLC Head Office

The People’s Leasing & Finance PLC, a financial powerhouse in the Sri Lankan economy, commissioned the design of an office building to be its state-of-the-art, landmark headquarters complex. 

The head office is a middle-rise modern office building comprising of basement parking and 11 storeys inclusive of a mezzanine floor. The total floor area of the complex amounts to 8,800 sqm.  

The entrance leads to an atrium lobby with a self-suspended extensive curtain wall facade braced by a tensile cable support structure which spans over three floors. The space is defined externally at the front by a black gridded framework which emphasises the corner of the site. The angular twist and diagonal grooves of the façade exudes a sense of rotary dynamism.  

The interior’s dark floor and ceiling finishes highlight the bright white walls that display curated artwork, giving the building a creative energy. DG5 collaborated with The Saskia Fernando Gallery to decorate the interior lobbies and visitor areas with artwork by local artists with the intention of supporting their work. At roof terrace level, a geometric pergola structure provides shading whilst the terrace opens out to views of the bustling cityscape including captivating views of the fast-changing Colombo Skyline. 

At the International Asia Pacific Property Awards in 2012, the PLC Head Office building was awarded as the overall winner for Best Office Architecture in the Asia Pacific Region and received a five-star award for Best Office Architecture in Sri Lanka.
