National Savings Bank Premier Branch
The NSB Premier Banking Centre embodies a minimalist, monolithic aesthetic translating the institution’s core values into a spatial experience of permanence, quiet confidence and refined luxury.
The project objective was to transform the existing Chairman’s Bungalow into the NSB Premier Banking Centre to reflect an enduring institutional feel, symbolizing the building’s new identity. The brief informed reusing the existing structure with minimum modifications and redesigning vertical and horizontal circulation within the building to accommodate its new functions and users.
The concept envisioned a premier bank cloaked in privacy and security, achieved by severing external physical and visual ties. Yet, within its walls, the design invites a stream of natural light and ventilation, capturing the internal landscape to create an atmosphere that is both warm and inviting.
To achieve this with minimal modifications, the main design intervention was to wrap a secondary structure around the existing building. This strategic manipulation also creates a distinctive architectural “X factor,” setting the building apart from its surroundings and enhancing its unique brand identity.
The spatial arrangement ensures clear sightlines, controlled access points, and private enclaves, reinforcing the idea of a secure financial institution. While the design embraces a monolithic foundation, the interior elements incorporate subtle evolution and fluidity—mirroring the vision for growth of NSB.
