The Empire Residencies on Braybrook Place, Colombo 02 has the distinction of being one of the early high-rise luxury apartment complexes in Sri Lanka. Capturing the city view, this luxury apartment complex is made up of two towers that comprise of thirty-nine and thirty-five storeys each. The complex accommodates 104 apartments with a 20m length swimming pool, kid’s pool, gym, club house, large outdoor landscaped terrace area and multi-level parking at podium level. The towers have been designed to create an exclusive set of residential units that provides a panoramic view of the city divorced from its hustle and bustle. Each floor level is connected to the two residential towers via a central lift and a service core arrangement.

A unique feature of the towers is the exclusivity of access, with only two apartments per floor. The standard apartments are three bedroom units arrayed in 4 types that range from 183 sqm – 250 sqm and are spacious by modern standards. Perched at the topmost levels of each tower are four penthouses varying from 350sqm – 400sqm in size. The common areas within the apartments are spacious, with broad corridors and vast living and dining spaces. The bare internal white walls allow for spatial personalisation, facilitating uniqueness in each apartment. An exceptional attribute of each apartment is the incorporation of panoramic vistas into the city of Colombo, from common living spaces as well as bedrooms.

A 100% back up power system covers the entire building including the AC systems, allowing for an uninterrupted electricity supply and consistent comfort levels.

Standing at 131 meters, The Empire Residencies was regarded as the tallest residential building in Sri Lanka for several years since its completion in 2008. It also has the distinction of being a landmark high-rise development designed and built entirely by a Sri Lankan team, which is a testament to local Architectural and Engineering ingenuity at the time.

The Empire was presented with a 5 star award for Best High-Rise Architecture Sri Lanka at the Asia Pacific Residential Property Awards in 2010 making DG5 the first Sri Lankan consultancy firm to receive an Asia Pacific Residential Property Award for design.
