Manthri Road Residence

Located in the serene residential area of Colombo 05, the Manthri Road House was designed as a private sanctuary, combining discreet family accommodation with expansive spaces for lifestyle living and entertainment. The design skillfully balances the linear constraints of the site with the need for both privacy and transparency, creating a harmonious flow of spaces.

The house follows the concept of a ‘House in a Garden,’ where living spaces seamlessly integrate with patches of greenery across multiple levels. The slimline, multi-storey structure is wrapped in an introverted, controlled ‘caged’ concrete envelope that offers both protection and connection to the outdoors. Local trees, plants, and vines are an integral part of the design, enhancing the sense of a continuous, interconnected environment.

The minimalist design, characterized by fair-faced concrete finishes, gives the house a timeless and refined aesthetic. Sustainability was a key focus, with the use of locally sourced materials, fittings, and furnishings that minimize the environmental footprint. The construction of the minimalist concrete structure required precise coordination between architecture, structural elements, and MEP systems, expertly managed through detailed BIM models to ensure flawless execution.

In line with the architectural vision, the interior design also integrates the works of local artists and sculptors, carefully selected to complement and enhance the overall aesthetic. These artistic contributions bring a sense of cultural richness to the modern space, working in harmony with the architecture to create a balanced and cohesive design.
