The Kotelawala Defence University Hospital is a state-of-the-art teaching hospital sprawling over 126,000 sq.m of tranquil nature on the outskirts of Colombo. Situated facing the Colombo – Horana main road in Werahara, the facility houses a ten storied patient ward Hospital with a built-up area of 76,000 sqm and 13 ancillary buildings including the Faculty Building of Allied Health Sciences, cadets, warrant officer’s & sergeant’s mess & hostels, army personnel’s’ quarters as well as a 400 meter athletics ground with a sports stadium. The fully equipped teaching hospital boasts of 20 operation theatres, 02 designated recovery areas, 05 intensive care units and 704 ward beds.
DG5 partnered with Specialist Hospital Planners AMC Consultants International Pvt Ltd to develop the scheme to best fulfil the requirement of a fully-fledged health care facility that is also architecturally curated to provide the best environment for healing and learning.
The warm and welcoming patient friendly interiors intertwined with the seamless incorporation of the lush green landscape into the premises attest to the detailed architectural designing, planning and engineering that ensures the complex as a leading facility that defines Hospital Architecture in Sri Lanka.
