Co-op Square

Submitted as a bid entry for the design of the high-rise Co-operative Headquarters, the architectural concept for the proposed Co-op Square was derived from the core values represented by the client body which led to a resourceful, resilient and sustainable building solution with a focus on the people. Located in downtown Colombo, the twenty-five storeyed mixed-use tower facilitates a retail podium fed through a large, urban public space created at the ground level, semi-public office areas, private luxury apartments and an exclusive amenity level at the rooftop.

The proposed built form is derived from the site geometry and creates a strong sculpted aesthetic. The programme stacks up multiple activities in a logical and functional order. Each activity has slightly different space configurations and is represented through subtle variants in the solid banding façade, creating an identity for each component while retaining a consolidated visual image for the overall project.
